Sparkle App Update: 1.03 - Six Big Changes! Plus a Super Tip & Android App News
We just launched Sparkle App Update 1.03 -- our biggest update yet!
This update includes six important changes - based on listener requests and suggestions over the last six months.
Read on for descriptions and pointers!
Update for our Android listeners: the Android App will be in development this fall! We hope to have it ready for you by the end of the year.
1. You can choose whether the stories play continuously or play one story at a time.
You'll find this in the Settings page of the App. To find the Settings screen, click the three bars in the top left corner of the App.
Select either "Stop playing when story ends" or "Continue to next story."
2. There are story descriptions with each story player.
Now you can read the story description before playing any story! Simply click the three small dots in the top right hand corner of any player screen, and the description window will slide open.
3. Previously played stories are now marked as "Played."
Yes! This has been one of the top requests from Sparkle listeners. See that lovely little icon in the image above?
Now if you listen to a story (at least 1/2 way through) it will be marked as "Played" in your Storybox!
4. Stories in a Series or Collection show up in order.
When you are in your Storybox under the "Series" tab, you'll see the stories are now numbered and will show up in order. (See example in above image!)
5. It's easier to identify all stories in a Series or Collection.
In the "Stories" tab of the Storybox, it's now easier to tell which stories go with which Series or Collections!
We reformatted the way the stories are displayed, so you can see the name of the Series at the top.
6. The App remembers your place in a story.
Now the App will be far more dutiful at remembering where you left off with any story!
Note: this is true for online listening only. The App communicates this to the website database and so can only record it when listening online.
How to make the App Update on your device:
- Open the iTunes App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the "Updates" icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Scroll and find the Sparkle App icon. And tap "Update".
And you'll be all set!
And here's one more helpful tip, that even I didn't know about! So I can imagine many of you don't know it either.
Did you know you can swipe a story or series in your Storybox in order to remove it?
Have a look at this:
Yes! Just swipe left and you'll see the "Remove from Storybox" option appear.
